Robert Askins (Playwright) was born in Cypress, Texas, in 1980. He moved to New York in 2005. His Obie Award-winning play Hand to God enjoyed a 2014 run Off-Broadway at MCC Theater after three sold-out runs at Ensemble Studio Theatre in 2011-2012. In 2009 his play Princes of Waco was produced by EST/Youngblood. His one-act play Matthew and The Pastor’s Wife was a part of Marathon 2010 at EST, and Love Song of the Albanian Sous Chef won a Dallas Outer Circle Critics Award in 2011.

Mr. Askins is proud to be an alumnus of I-73, Youngblood, and a member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre. He has received two EST/Sloan grants, an Arch and Bruce Davis Award, and is one of the 2012 recipients of the Helen Merrill Award for emerging playwrights. His newest play Permission made its world premiere off-Broadway in spring 2015 at MCC Theater. His play Fish Display was part of the 2012 Ojai Playwrights Conference and Permission was part of the 2014 conference.

Ethan Hood (Director), is a Senior, double majoring in Film & Television and Theatre Tech & Design. He was the Director of last year’s Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom for the LSU Lab Series. He has been the Assistant Director for Swine Palace’s Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley and LSU Mainstage’s Marburg. In Film, he recently produced the award-winning LSU Geaux Film When A Doveweed Blooms and has directed many other short films, as well. He cannot express his gratitude enough for everyone who created this show with him!

Hunter Nastasi (Jason) is a senior majoring in Theater Administration and minoring in Business Administration. He is also secretary of UTA and an ImprovLSU troupe member. He was last seen in LSU Theatre’s The Courtship of Winifred Edwards, Roleplay, MTC’s The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals, and LSU Lab Show’s Rosita y Conchita. He would like to thank his family and friends for their support and encouragement. God bless!

Morgane Campbell

Morgane Campbell (Jessica) is a sophomore psychology major and theatre minor. She was last seen in LSU MTC’s production of Falsettos and previously performed in the cast of The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals. Other than performing, Morgane also enjoys writing music and playing guitar. She is so excited to perform in her first LSU lab show.

Sophie Rollins (Margery) is a senior Anthropology major and History minor. Previous credits include LSU Lab Season’s I’m Gonna Marry You Tobey Maguire (Shelby), LSU Musical Theatre Club’s The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals (Charlotte), Sullivan Theatre’s Noises Off (Brooke), and Hopkins Black Box’s Yearning (Nick Carraway). She is SCUBA certified. Much love to her friends and family in the cast, crew and audience. Shout out to Luna & Este and the shoe they’re probably destroying at home right now.

Hunter Sparacino (Pastor Greg) is a junior Theatre Performance major. He was most recently seen in LSU Theatre Mainstage’s The Courtship of Winifred Edwards. Hunter is President of the University Theatre Alliance (UTA) and the member at large for local community theatre 225

Drew Snyder (Timothy) is a third year communications major. Some of his notable roles include Garcin from “No Exit,” Professor Hidgens from MTC’s “The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals,” and Max from “World Builders.”

 

The Puppet Actors

Jesus Christ is the eternal son of God. Born again. Savior of man. Abolisher of sins. He’s excited to be so prominent in this production. Can be found in bread and wine.

Jolene “Jesus Hater” Jessie is so excited to debut on the LSU labshow stage. Outside of LSU, you may have seen her perform in Avenue Q as backup puppet #3 or performing at Splash every Tuesday for Fergie night as Feltilicious. Other than performing, Jolene loves singing, sewing, and serving as inspiration for Dolly Parton’s hit song “Jolene”. Much love to her mom and dad, Molene and Dolene, for their endless love and support.

Rita is one half of the promising upcoming performing duo Marge-Rita (name under reconsideration due to church regulations) They have performed their act in THREE nursing homes, to crowds of people. Rita is three apples tall and 7 ounces big. On the side, she enjoys hobbies like sitting, watching and being.

Tyrone is the coolest dude around here and he WILL steal yo girl. It’s only a matter of time. Recent shows he’s been in includes Avenue Q, Mamma Mia as Donna, and your mom. He debuted the first production of Brenda: Rocky’s Beautiful Mother, playing the title role of Brenda. He wants to thank your mom—yes, YOUR mom—for coming to see the show.
