College Student Initiatives

Black Male Leadership Initiative 2020 (BMLI)

An LSU long-term initiative aimed at enhancing and increasing Black male recruitment, enrollment, persistence, performance, and graduation and engaging Black male alumni and community leaders in ways that connect them with Black college males.

 

Black Male Leadership Initiative (BMLI) Fellows Program (Co-sponsored with the Office of Multicultural Affairs)

A leadership and personal development cohort retention program that provides academic, leadership, professional, and cultural development opportunities for male students, targeting Black college male students.

 

President’s Millennial Scholars Program (PMSP)

An academic, personal, and professional development program for students of color and students from underrepresented populations. PMSP is aimed at creating an environment for students where academic and professional excellence is expected.

Graduate and Research Initiatives

Pre-Doctoral Scholars Institute 

Housed in the LSU Graduate School, this program targets sophomore and junior Humanities and Social Science students from underrepresented populations who have completed at least half of their required coursework and are interested in pursuing a doctoral degree.

Recruitment Initiatives

Graduate Diversity Preview

Co-sponsored with the Graduate School, undergraduates from minority serving institutions are invited to the LSU for a one-day visit and have the opportunity to speak with students, faculty, and staff in order to gain greater insight into the LSU and the graduate application process.  

 

SPRINGFEST Recruitment Weekend

A recruitment weekend that targets ethnic minority high school juniors (rising seniors) and provides the opportunity for students to spend three days and two nights on the LSU Campus at the end of Spring.  Please contact the Office of Multicultural Affairs for more information or email oma@lsu.edu.
