Khonsari Honored by ASME, Enjoying Summer of Accolades
July 23, 2024 BATON ROUGE, LA - It has been quite a summer for LSU Mechanical Engineering Professor Michael Khonsari, as he has garnered one honor after another over the last few months, including his most recent, being named an Honorary Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The distinction recognizes individuals for "lifetime service to mechanical engineering research and education, particularly through technical books, and trendsetting research papers."
LSU Mechanical Engineering Professor Seeks to Better Understand Fuel Droplet Dynamics in Propulsion Systems
July 8, 2024 BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU Mechanical Engineering Associate Professor Shyam Menon is part of a collaborative project with Missouri University of Science & Technology (MST) that will develop strategies to facilitate a better understanding of the physics of high-speed propulsion systems. Such systems have application in the defense sector and civilian sector, including supersonic commercial transport and commercial rocketry for space access.
ECE's Wu Honored With Best Paper at IEEE Symposium
July 3, 2024 BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Hsiao-Chun Wu was recently honored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Broadcast Technology Society with the 2024 Best Paper Award at the IEEE International Symposium on Broadband Multimedia Systems and Broadcasting in Toronto, Canada.
LSU Mechanical Engineering Professor Researching 3D Printing of Bridge Structures Via Robotic SystemsPage Title
July 1, 2024 BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU Mechanical Engineering Associate Professor Genevieve Palardy recently received funding for her research on "free-standing polymer composites for robotic-driven bridge construction." The $30,000 grant was awarded by the Louisiana Transportation Research Center. LSU ME Assistant Professor Corina Barbalata is working with Palardy on the project.
LSU Electrical, Computer Engineering Professor Researches Hybrid Circuit Breaker
June 24, 2024 BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Shahab Mehraeen is working on a bipolar hybrid direct current circuit breaker (DCCB) that generates a current zero crossing (i.e., point at which there is no voltage present) that reverses and re-routes the current, causing current decay with minimal arc.
LSU Chemical Engineering PhD Student's Paper on Multichip Interconnects Published
June 19, 2024 BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU Chemical Engineering PhD student Junghyun Park is the lead author on a newly published paper titled, "Extending Copper Interconnects and Epoxy Dielectrics to Multi-GHz Frequencies," which explores the quantitative trade-offs between the electrical performance and reliability of multichip packages with interlocking adhesion.
Three Programs Among Top 60 in Best Grad School Rankings
June 18, 2024 BATON ROUGE, LA - In the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings of the 2025 Best Engineering Graduate Schools, three of the LSU College of Engineering's programs were ranked in the top 60 nationally. Additionally, each program in the college ranked improved its rankings over last year's marks.
