Insights Summer Program

At LSU Vet Med, we pride ourselves in our efforts to open pathways for students from historically underrepresented groups through both intentional recruitment and increased retention initiatives. The Insights into LSU Vet Med Program provides students with an immersive learning opportunity showcasing LSU’s accessible and equitable academic experience. This two-week-long summer program features undergraduate students from universities across Louisiana and beyond. Apply to LSU Vet Med

Interested in applying to LSU Vet Med to pursue your Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, Master's (MS) degree or Doctoral (PhD) degree, Advanced Training (internships or residencies), Externship, or Career (Job Opportunities)?

Please note that MS and PhD candidates do not need to have a research interest in veterinary medicine and research does not need to benefit animals. LSU Vet Med is a biomedical research institution as well as a veterinary school. Our researchers' investigations cover a wide range of disciplines, including cancer biology, disease processes, cardiovascular disease, infectious and parasitic diseases, neurosciences, toxicology, bacteriology, and more.

Veterinary Teaching Hospital

We care for an array of species and see approximately 20,000 cases each year. We offer specialty services as well as primary care. Our comprehensive care allows us to treat a variety of illness and injuries. We are open 24/7, 365 to provide care for your animal.

Wildlife Hospital of Louisiana released bald eagle in LaPlace

The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine Wildlife Hospital of Louisiana released a bald eagle on July 16 at 11 a.m. at an Entergy facility in LaPlace, La. This is the sixth eagle we have released in 2024.

Iconic sculpture "In Our Hands" installed at LSU Vet Med

LSU Vet Med has installed a stunning new sculpture titled, "In Our Hands" by DiBari & Associates. The sculpture is prominently positioned in front of the Stephenson Pet Clinic on Skip Bertman Drive. Funded by the Percent for Art Program under Louisiana's Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, this artwork symbolizes the school's commitment to the wellbeing of animals and people alike.
